Springtime Carnivore Release “Midnight Room,” Title Track from Forthcoming Album

Music News Springtime Carnivore

Indie dream-pop artist and 2014 Best of What’s Next pick Springtime Carnivore has released the title track from their forthcoming LP.

“Midnight Room” begins brightly, despite the name. Frontwoman Greta Morgan sings about “standing in the sun” over a simple, bare guitar rhythm. It’s as corporeal as the track gets. From there, murky layers of synthesizers and background vocals emerge and the sonic landscape expands into a lulling, ethereal, echo chamber of a “room” in which Morgan says she “never stop[s] dreaming of you.”

In a press release, Morgan says that a “jagged sleep schedule” and “strange waking interludes” inspired this song and the remainder of her album. That’s definitely the frustrated, hazy vibe evoked by this track.

Midnight Room will be out on Oct. 7 via Autumn Tone Records. Listen to the last single off the album here, and check out the new song “Midnight Room” below.
