Squirrel Flower Announces New LP, Releases 2 Singles

Squirrel Flower, the indie rock project of Chicago artist Ella Williams, has announced her newest LP Tomorrow’s Fire, which will arrive October 13 via Polyvinyl/Full Time Hobby. In conjunction with the announcement, she’s gifted us two new singles. “Full Time Job” is short and angsty, bursting with the smudged electric riffs and crescendoing choruses Squirrel Flower is beloved for. Williams’ harmonies build on and around each other as her melody nonchalantly flits over jagged instrumentals.

“When A Plant Is Dying” is atmospheric and lilting, a dip into Squirrel Flower’s folksier side. Steeped in discontent and rough Americana, the track loops with Williams’s signature musical patterning before exploding into an ever-rising guitar solo that encapsulates much of the song’s latter half.
