Stephan Moccio Announces New Album, Legends, Myths and Lavender

Grammy and Oscar-nominated composer, producer and songwriter Stephan Moccio has announced his newest album, Legends, Myths and Lavender, which will arrive on May 10 via Decca/Republic Republic Records. The instrumental albums sees Moccio at his most vulnerable, as a sense of urgency and longing pierces through the piano-saturated pieces. Written over a 26-day period at Miraval Studios, Moccio saw this album as a return to form.

“…It is a soundtrack for the ageless which transcends cultures. Within these melodies are stories of romance, tragedy, fantasy, seduction, conflict and hope. The new music evokes classical, cinematic and modern images of the human condition. The compositions recalibrated my spirit and the values which I lost along the way, in pursuit of the wrong things,” says Moccio of Legends, Myths and Lavender.

Of the recording process, he notes: “The Miraval estate is located on a site first inhabited in pre-Roman times. I was intensely aware of this throughout the month-long recording process. It profoundly influenced the mellifluous tones weaved into this collection. I was not prepared for the healing, spiritual, and contemplative emotions this experience gifted me.”

In conjunction with the album announcement, Moccio has released his lead single titled “The Wanderer.” Solitary and inquisitive, “The Wanderer” is a deeply humane piano piece that carries an ethos of isolation and movement. With each progression, a wondrous and melancholic landscape emerges from the instrumentation.
