Listen to Steve Gunn’s New Single, “Park Bench Smile,” from Eyes On the Lines

Music News Steve Gunn

Steve Gunn has just released the newest single, “Park Bench Smile”, from his forthcoming studio album Eyes On the Lines. The album, the artist’s debut on indie label Matador Records, is slated for release next Friday, June 3. This is the third single that Gunn has revealed off of Eyes On the Lines following “Conditions Wild” and “Ancient Jules”, both of which have garnered critical praise.

The song is described as a “rewarding listen that shows the sprawling, yet unifying full band efforts and Gunn’s inimitable style of play”—a more revealing look into the album’s dynamics, it features Gunn’s impeccable, wanderlustful lyricism and lightly plucked acoustic guitar that belies “Park Bench Smile’s” subdued profundity.

Eyes On the Lines will be Gunn’s first solo album since 2014’s Way Out Weather, but he has since partnered on an additional album with labelmate Kurt Vile, for whom he has also played guitar in live shows as part of the Violators, Vile’s backing band. Gunn and his own backing band, called the Outliners, have recently embarked on a European tour in support of the latest album and will return to Brooklyn for the inaugural show of their North American tour on June 9.
