Daily Dose: Still Woozy, “Habit”

Oakland-based artist Still Woozy, aka Sven Gamsky, has shared “Habit,” the first single off his forthcoming self-released EP Lately, due out in early 2019.

Gamsky has built a fair amount of buzz off a string of impeccable singles that stretch back into 2017. His sound originates somewhere near the beating heart of bedroom-pop, but his sound is distinctly sharper and more kinetic than your usual synth-wash affair, full of weighty grooves and vocal deliveries that feel like something out of modern alt-R&B.

At a certain point, influence-digging stops having any sort of merit, because Still Woozy’s songs exist in some edgeless space where sounds float in and out, their only purpose now to make you bob your head. “Habit” is a bite-sized encapsulation of that, and an excellent teaser of what’s to come.
