Sturgill Simpson Announces Fall Tour Dates

Sturgill Simpson Announces Fall Tour Dates

This weekend is a big one for Sturgill Simpson, given that his stellar 2016 record A Sailor’s Guide to Earth is up for a Grammy for Album of the Year. The Grammy ceremony takes place this Sunday and his album faces some tough competition with Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Adele’s 25 both on the ballot, along with Justin Bieber and Drake’s most recent albums.

But Simpson is already looking forward to the year ahead, and just announced runs of U.S. tour dates in July and September that will see him play shows at some of the country’s most prestigious venues, including Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks. These dates join a small slate of festivals Sturgill has been announced for, both in the U.S. and abroad.

While we wait for those shows to roll around, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed this Sunday, although if we’re going off our own best albums of 2016 list, the Academy could definitely do worse than handing the trophy to Beyoncé.

See Sturgill’s full list of tour dates below, along with Paste Cloud audio from his Daytrotter session from shortly before the release of 2014’s Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
