Sub Pop Announces 30th Anniversary Festival Lineup Featuring Beach House, Wolf Parade, More

It’s a big summer for storied indie label Sub Pop, and not just because Father John Misty is releasing new music (plus that endearingly demonic stop-motion video that arrived Wednesday). Sub Pop is turning 30, and they’re celebrating three decades (and more than 1,200 titles) of grunge, rock and other great music with a two-day festival, SPF30, happening Aug. 10-11 in their hometown of Seattle, Wash. If you’re lucky enough to be bound for (or based in) the Pacific Northwest, it might please you to know entrance to the festival is free for all ages.

On Tuesday, Sub Pop shared the event’s lineup, which ropes in a respectable list of the label’s artists that includes Beach House, Wolf Parade, The Afghan Whigs, Mudhoney, Loma, Clipping, LVL UP and more. You can see the entire lineup here. Following a typical festival strategy, the bands will be spread across four stages.

While the bulk of the music festival will be free, Sub Pop is also selling tickets for a Night of Comedy featuring the cast of Bob’s Burgers (Sub Pop is behind the release of The Bob’s Burgers Music Album) and a Pissed Jeans show at The Crocodile in Seattle. You can find tickets for those events here and here, respectively. Proceeds from the Bob’s Burgers show will benefit YouthCare, an organization that fights youth homelessness.

SPF30 will also have beer gardens, food trucks and appearances by local nonprofits. For a wealth of information about the festival, you can read Sub Pop’s announcement. Also, Seattle radio station KEXP recently decided to play every single Sub Pop song ever in chronological order, a marathon that began March 12.
