Sunflower Bean to Release Covers EP From The Basement, Share The Modern Lovers’ Cover

Following February’s release of their acclaimed debut album Human Ceremony, Sunflower Bean will put out a covers EP this Friday, Sept. 9. Produced by Sunflower Bean and Matthew Molnar, From The Basement features covers of T-Rex, The Modern Lovers, Spiritualized and Neil Young. The New York psych-rock trio released their version of the Modern Lovers’ “Old World” today in support of the EP.
“We weren’t trying to drastically change or alter any of them, we simply chose them for personal and sentimental reasons,” Sunflower Bean told The Fader. “They are each very dear to us and we wanted to collect them together, performed by us.”
The four-track EP is available on clear green vinyl, limited to 500 copies worldwide. Bandcamp pre-orders are sold-out, but fans will be able pick up a copy from Sunflower Bean’s fall headlining tour with The Lemon Twigs on support.
