Paste caught up with the German Music delegation at SXSW earlier this month. German Music @ SXSW 2024 is a project managed by Initiative Musik, the German Music Export Office. Three genre-specific events during the festival put a spotlight on the country’s rich musical output.
Things kicked off on Tuesday, March 12th, at the Central Presbyterian Church where modern classical music took center stage. The next evening held an official showcase rave at the Coconut Club Rooftop showcasing Germany’s rich tradition of electronic acts. Indie and electronic music were the focus of a day party on Friday, March 15th, that offered an eclectic lineup of performers as well as Texas BBQ and flowing drinks.
