Watch Tame Impala’s ’70s-Inspired “Lost In Yesterday” Video

Tame Impala (aka Kevin Parker), the indie act of the past decade, has been blessing us with single after single after not releasing an album since his award-winning Currents in 2015.
With four tracks released in the past few months and a highly anticipated fourth studio album, The Slow Rush, out Feb. 14 via Interscope, Parker’s band is back after a slow rush indeed.
Tame’s latest single “Lost In Yesterday” received a music video on Thursday, which is directed by Terri Timely, the directing duo who’ve also directed videos for St. Vincent, Joanna Newsom and more.
The video is a total ‘70s throwback, truly lost in yesterday, as Parker resembles an old rock star with his long, untamed, shaggy hair and striped bell bottoms.
The video takes place at an old-school wedding reception, hence the tacky and way over-exaggerated puffy sleeves on the bride’s dress as Tame Impala is performing on stage. The video replays the wedding night over and over again, but through a different lens each time.
The wedding gets better and better and the thoughts of terrible memories seem to fade, almost as if Parker is creating a metaphor for trying to cover up some painful times with a glossy cover-up instead.
The band announced their full North American tour in 2019, which kicks off March 9 and comes to end on Aug. 7. Tame Impala will be joined onstage by opening acts Clairo, MGMT and Perfume Genius.
Parker is scheduled to headline some of America’s biggest summer music festivals, like Governors Ball in New York on June 5 and Bonnaroo in Tennessee on June 14. He’s also set to headline several shows in his home of Australia where $300,000 (AUS) of the tours proceeds are going to Australian bushfire relief.
