Tanya Donelly – Whiskey Tango Ghosts

Anyone coming to Whiskey Tango Ghosts looking for the indie pop/rock that served as Donelly’s trademark in both Throwing Muses and Belly would do well to fling such expectations out the nearest available window. What you’ll find instead is an intimate, quiet, beautiful and mostly acoustic album that makes up in mood what it lacks in immediately catchy songs. Even quieter than her last record, Beautysleep, which never quite found its groove, Whiskey Tango Ghosts is one of Donelly’s finest outings to date.
