Taylor Swift’s Reputation Sold An Unsurprising 1.2 Million Copies in First Week
It's the tenth-largest sales week for an album since 1991
Photos by David Becker/Getty, Laura Busacca/GettyNo pun intended—Taylor Swift’s still-sparkling Reputation (as far as actual scandal is concerned) sold 1.216 million copies worldwide during its first week. According to Nielsen Music ratings (via Billboard), Reputation had the tenth-largest sales week for any album since they began measuring albums in 1991. It’s the fourth week of sales in the millions for Swift—she is the first artist to ever have four million-album-selling weeks.
This isn’t entirely surprising because T-Swift has been shifty about releasing her albums on any popular streaming services, perhaps because she intends to make as much money as possible, and the old Taylor Swift couldn’t come to the phone because she saw the potential for commercial success to be empty. In any case, Reputation is the top-selling album of 2017. Have yourself a merry Thanksgiving.
