Two Hand-Painted Guitars Stolen from Tegan and Sara

Two custom guitars, each hand-painted, were stolen from Canada’s favorite identical twin indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara on Thursday night. The sisters have asked their fans, particularly those in the Los Angeles area, to watch for the guitars in stores and online.

Tegan and Sara shared a photo of the Martin LX guitars on Instagram for reference, asking anyone with information on their whereabouts to email [email protected].

The guitars were painted by Lisa Hanawalt, best known as an illustrator for Netflix’s Bojack Horseman. The cartoonist also created the animated video for Tegan and Sara’s single “Hang on to the Night.”

Tegan and Sara released their last album, Love You to Death, in 2016. Currently, the sisters are focusing on their work with The Tegan and Sara Foundation to secure economic justice and health representation for women of the LGBTQ+ community, just to put a little extra sting into the robbery.
