The charity raises money for an organization called Gilda’s Club NYC, which aims to provide support, education and empowerment for those who have been diagnosed with cancer as well as their families. It was founded in 1995 in memory of Gilda Radner, a Saturday Night Live comedian who passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989.
This year, the albums will include: Metallica’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, Portugal. The Man’s Woodstock, Lord Huron’s Strange Trails, Dustin Kensrue’s Please Come Home, Gary Clark Jr.’s Live/North America 2016, Lucinda Williams’ This Sweet Old World, Mastodon’s Emperor of Sand, Four Year Strong’s “Rise or Die Trying, Blue October’s Home and GWAR’s The Blood of Gods.
The pink pressings will be available in October at vinyl retailers nationwide, with all proceeds going toward Gilda’s Club NYC. So far, Ten Bands One Cause has raised more than $144,000 for the organization.
