Afghan Whigs Guitarist Dave Rosser Dies at Age 50

Dave Rosser, guitarist of The Afghan Whigs, has died due to inoperable colon cancer. He was 50 years old. The band announced this on their Facebook page, saying that Rosser “passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love.”

Rosser, pictured left, joined The Afghan Whigs following Jon Skibic’s departure in 2014. Rosser played guitar on the most recent Afghan Whigs record, In Spades, as well as on 2014’s Do to the Beast. He also played with vocalist Greg Dulli in The Gutter Twins. The Afghan Whigs announced Rosser’s diagnosis in November 2016 on their Facebook page.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration.

Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.
