SXSW 2019: Watch The Beths Perform Live at the Riverview Bungalow in Austin

In August of last year, a band from New Zealand called The Beths released their debut album, the honest, power-pop trip Future Me Hates Me. Later, we named them the best new band of 2018. Frontwoman Elizabeth Stokes and her high school friend, Jonathan Pierce, formed the band with mates Benjamin Sinclair and Ivan Luketina-Johnston while studying jazz in college. Stokes left her job as a music teacher to tour with The Beths.

On Monday, we hosted The Beths for a session at the Riverview Bungalow in Austin, Texas, in the midst of South By Southwest. They played acoustic, stripped-down versions of three songs from Future Me Hates Me: the title track, “Little Death” and “Happy Unhappy.”
