The Black Keys Cancel Woodstock 50 Performance

Woodstock’s 50th anniversary festival has lost a bit of its luster this evening, as The Black Keys have announced the cancellation of their set. Woodstock 50 is set for Aug. 16-18, at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

“Due to a scheduling conflict, The Black Keys will unfortunately need to cancel their set at Woodstock,” said Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney in a brief statement Friday. “The band wants to let fans know as soon as possible and before tickets go on sale.”

The band’s statement does not address the cause of the conflict—Paste has reached out for more information, and will update this post with any that we receive.

The Black Keys recently surged back into the public eye (and ears) with a new single, “Lo/Hi,” their first since 2014. Soon after, they announced a North American arena tour alongside Modest Mouse, set to begin in September with a headlining set at the Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas. All signs point to a new album in the offing, though the band have yet to make any such announcement.

Minus the Keys, Woodstock 50’s big, bizarre lineup still features The Killers, Jay-Z, Dead & Company, Miley Cyrus, Santana, Chance the Rapper, Imagine Dragons and Halsey, among many other acts. See the fest’s complete lineup here.
