The Buttertones Release Devilishly Dark New Track, “You and Your Knife”

Los Angeles cinematic-rock outfit The Buttertones have released a new single from their forthcoming album, Midnight In A Moonless Dream, out on May 4 via Innovative Leisure Records.

“You and Your Knife” follows their previous single “Baby C4” and features hints of Bauhaus, with singer/guitarist Richard Araiza’s dark vocal delivery and mysterious aura. While the track may be more reserved than the wild, hyperdrive saxophone monster that was “Baby C4,” there’s just as much of a devilishly dark and enigmatic energy that will inevitably lure you in.

According to a press release, The Buttertones’ new album is rougher and tougher than their 2017 LP Gravedigging. “If Gravedigging felt like an oversaturated spaghetti-western desertscape, Midnight is much more biting—music made for the swampland that spit out Australia’s mad Scientists, or for the Mickey Spillane night city where the Cramps met all those garbagemen and werewolves.”

The band recently made an appearance at this year’s SXSW festival and the first weekend of Coachella, where they will also perform this weekend. The band just came off a U.S. tour with Hanni El Khatib and they will embark on a European tour in May.
