Exclusive: The Golden Dregs Share Slinky New Single “Just Another Rock”

It’s taken from their sophomore album Hope Is For The Hopeless, out on Sept. 27 and also featuring the singles “Nobody Ever Got Rich” and “The Queen of Clubs.” Hope Is For The Hopeless follows their 2018 debut album Lafayette.
“Just Another Rock” is underpinned by Woods’ weighty baritone, divulging poetic lines about romantic desire and personal shortcomings. With funky keyboard interludes, a measured bassline and cascading guitars, it has the musical feel of a slinky, late-night saunter and the lyrical sentiment of a defeated shrug.
“The song itself is set in a sports bar in the town I grew up in,” Woods says. “Initially it resembled more of a folk song but somehow evolved with time and became a wonky dance track. It really set a vibe for this sort of lonely dystopian dance floor which I’ve tried to present in the video.”
The Golden Dregs perform live in different forms whether it be one-man karaoke or a full band with a rotating cast of friends and musicians. The album release show will be at London’s SET Dalston on Sept. 27, and you can buy tickets here.
