Video Premiere: The Helio Sequence – “Battle Lines”

The Helio Sequence may be two people, but their sound makes it seem like the work of many more. Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel have spent years building the right studio and honing the production skills, and their sixth full-length, a self-titled work that spawned from a month of making as much music as they could, is as euphoric and career-defining as it is a good time. In their new video for “Battle Lines,” performance footage gets the Lite Brite treatment, with lines of bright colors on a black background outlining the musicians and variating with colorful animation. It’s a swirling, shape-shifting scene that pairs well with the whimsical, ambient sound.
