With diverse instrumentation and bucolic songwriting, the members of the Low Anthem create a sparse and haunting sound all their own. Founded by members Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky after the pair met DJing at Brown University’s radio station, the band is rounded out by multi-instrumentalists Jocie Adams and Mat Davidson, employing bowed banjo, singing saw and hammered dulcimer, among other unusual instruments, to evoke an atmosphere that is at once otherworldly, yet completely rooted in the American folk tradition. The Low Anthem’s latest album, Smart Flesh, is their first as a quartet, and the supporting tour will see them covering the US, UK and beyond.
