The Mountain Goats have shared another single from their forthcoming album In League with Dragons. Darkly triumphant, “Sicilian Crest” is another dose of surreal storytelling that marks just two weeks more of waiting before In League with Dragons arrives on April 26 via Merge Records.
No strangers to weaving the sort of fantastical tales you’d hear while seated around a campfire, The Mountain Goats grant yet another glimpse into the mystical, war-torn land of In League With Dragons with “Sicilian Crest.” Long-time fans of the folk-rock project will recognize earlier traces of The Mountain Goats within the song’s lyrics, which spin wondrously ominous mythologies in lines like, “In these times of wanting prophecy / And false witnesses up to all manner of deviltry / Drench a kitchen rag in heretic’s blood / Wash your windows and prepare for the flood.”
