The National Share Teaser For New Song “Guilty Party”

It was announced back in May that The National are officially back and will release their seventh studio album, Sleep Well Beast, on Sept. 8. The announcement of the forthcoming record was accompanied by its first single, “The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness,” and today the band shared a brief teaser of a new song, which is almost certainly the record’s next single.

The teaser is for a new song titled “Guilty Party,” which The National reportedly live-debuted last week at a show in France, and although it’s a quick nine seconds, it hints that the band is getting more experimental with this new record (anyone else reminded of Radiohead’s “Idioteque”?) with its ambient, washed-out bleep sounds. This isn’t all that surprising, since over the last few years more and more bands have been flirting with “going electronic” and the concept of what technology means to humankind. You can listen to the teaser below via the band’s tweet, and enjoy Paste Cloud audio from the band’s 2007 Daytrotter Session beneath that.
