The National’s Boxer Live in Brussels to be Released Digitally, on CD
Images via Stephen Lovekin/Getty, 4ADThe National performed the entirety of their album Boxer in celebration of the record’s tenth anniversary at a special show in Brussels, Belgium, on Nov. 9, 2017. The show was recorded and released on vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive—the record, limited to 4,000 copies in the U.S. and pressed on clear vinyl with a rainbow foil jacket, sold out immediately.
The live LP is now set for a digital and CD release on July 13. Boxer is the record that landed The National on the Billboard Top 200 for the first time and it features “Fake Empire”—a track that would later be used by Barack Obama in his 2008 election campaign. Since the release of Boxer, the band has been nominated twice for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album—the first for Trouble Will Find Me in 2013 and the second for Sleep Well Beast in 2017—and won the latter Grammy.
