Watch The Revivalists Jam Out in New “Oh No” Video Recorded Live in Muscle Shoals

One of New Orleans’ biggest musical exports of the last few years, The Revivalists, have released a new live video for their song “Oh No.” It was recorded live in Muscle Shoals, Ala., in the legendary Fame Studios, where artists like the Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin famously recorded. Watch the lively video below.
The “Oh No (Made in Muscle Shoals)” video is a great taste of The Revivalists’ beloved live show: high intensity, with lots of searing guitar solos, bluesy breakdowns and growling one-liners from frontman David Shaw.
“Oh No” is from The Revivalists’ 2018 album Take Good Care. Shaw says the song was just “born from a guitar riff” and written on a hot summer night at home in New Orleans.
“I had this melody in my head all day that had manifested itself into a full-blown earworm by the evening and it had to go,” Shaw told Paste. “It took a little while to get it just right and then I began to scat lyrics and melodies over it. I channeled pieces of my life ranging from failing relationships, to drug addiction and family drama. Oftentimes, I take something that actually happened and change the characters around. I think it adds a little mystery for myself as well as the listener while still preserving the integrity of the story. The game remains the same, only the names have changed.”
The video shows band members (all eight of them) spread throughout the booth and totally rocking out. This new version of “Oh No” is a precursor to a whole entire re-imagining of Take Good Care recorded in Muscle Shoals, arriving later this year.
“The place has generated so much classic music out of that little room in that small town,” said guitarist Zack Feinberg. “It’s a legendary space but it has a very humble, disarming vibe to it. It smells and looks a bit like your grandparents’ basement. It’s really easy to relax there and capture some great energy and awesome, raw vintage style sounds.”
The Revivalists are currently underway on a U.S. tour, which includes headlining shows at The Greek Theatre and Red Rocks and an appearance at Lollapalooza next month. Find all the dates here.
