It just so happens that one of the longest-running current bands is also one of the greatest of all time: The Rolling Stones. The Paste vault is full of incredible Rolling Stones live recordings, video performances and interviews, so we dug up an illuminating, hour-long interview with the band from this day in 1978. All the members from that time—Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts—were interviewed individually while on tour in the U.S. to promote their recently released album Some Girls.
Wyman and Watts told a story about how Brian Jones and Keith Richards used to sleep all day and then spend all night listening to the same Jimmy Reed record. The interviewer asked them about the future of The Rolling Stones, and they responded with an example that is particularly amusing in hindsight: “Did you know that Duke Ellington had a band with the same people for virtually 50 years?”
