Cashmere Cat and The Weeknd Join Forces on Forthcoming Single

It appears a collaborative single from Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat and alt-R&B star The Weeknd may be arriving this Friday. Both artists have been teasing a forthcoming collab via their respective Instagram accounts.

Cashmere Cat first posted a picture of The Weeknd and himself in the studio two weeks ago, and posted again yesterday, this time simply announcing in a Notes app screenshot that “the first song from my album will be out this Friday.” The Weeknd also hit up the ‘Gram today, with a short clip of the track accompanied by a cat emoji. The quick preview provides a glimpse of Cashmere Cat’s lo-fi production accompanying The Weeknd’s signature vibrato-laden falsetto.

This comes after a Republic Records executive revealed earlier this week that The Weeknd is set to get in the studio with electro-legends Daft Punk. Few details have been released yet in regards to their potential collab, and it’s still unclear whether the work will ever even be released, as Daft Punk are perfectionists notorious for completely scrapping projects.
