In one of the weirdest videos of 2018 so far, “Cheetah Tongue” stars character’s Martha, Teresa, Greta and Janine in an ‘80’s inspired workout video that is sure to make you bust out of your spandex. It looks as if The Wombats watched an episode of Golden Girls and just ran with it. The overtly silly video follows the spray-tanned protagonist Carol Crosby as she leads a class in “Chores For Your Cores” an exercise video that gives Wombat fans everything they need to get into 2018 more fit and leaner than ever (including delicious cans of beans). It’s good to see the Liverpool indie-rockers still know how to keep it light and don’t take themselves too seriously, despite their mass success.
The Wombats told Billboard in the video’s premiere: “’Cheetah Tongue’ is a song about dealing with the pressures of adulthood and failing miserably, … It’s the opening song on the album and probably the most psychedelic.”
Additionally, The Wombats have announced they will be going on tour alongside Indie-veterans Weezer and The Pixies in a North American Summer tour. Again, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life drops Feb. 9. Watch the video to “Cheetah Tongue” below and find the North American tour dates underneath the album artwork.
