Yesterday we reported that The xx were revealing dates for an impending U.S. tour in letters sent to fans which contained free tickets and a 7” single.
Today, they’ve decided to spare their fans the worry of wondering where else they might play by announcing their full North American tour. Beginning with their appearances at both weekends of Coachella on April 14 and 21, the British trio will zig-zag their way from west to east until they close things out with a show at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The tour will also include stops at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., Forest Hills Stadium in New York, and a performance for Austin City Limits at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.
These dates also indicate that Coachella might not be the only festival The xx play in the U.S. this Spring. Their trek through the South leaves them room to headline Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival, which takes place May 12-14, and their final date in Maine appears to set them up for an appearance at the Boston Calling Music Festival over Memorial Day weekend. Both of those festivals reveal their lineups next week, so we’ll have confirmation one way or the other soon.
