The xx Share Update on Third Album, Add Tour Dates
Photo by Jamie-James MedinaAmbient indie-pop stars The xx haven’t much been heard from in a while, but we’re happy to report that’s changed. The English trio have offered an update on their forthcoming third album, the follow-up to 2012’s Coexist, while also unveiling a handful of new European tour dates.
“Hello! It’s been a while but you’ve been on our minds,” the band wrote in a hand-penned note posted to Facebook. “We are in the studio working on our third album, it feels so good to be together making new music.”
Last we had heard, The xx were all over the place while working on their new material, writing and recording in Marfa, Texas, Reykjavik, Iceland, Los Angeles, Calif., and their home city of London, with each of these locales having an influence on the album itself.
Hardly content to limit themselves to geographical influences, the band also shared a Spotify playlist showcasing the music “we’ve been listening to in the studio,” which includes songs from Frank Ocean, Sia, Suicide, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and many more.
Find the band’s note below, and their newly expanded tour dates beneath that.
