Watch They Might Be Giants’ Music Video For “The Greatest,” Starring Nick Offerman

They Might Be Giants have released the music video for their single “The Greatest,” off their most recent album I Like Fun (released Jan. 19 via Lojinx), which made Paste’s list of this month’s best albums. The video features Parks and Recreation star/comedian Nick Offerman lip-synching the lyrics while getting needles stabbed through his body via a look-a-like voodoo doll. Offerman delivers his classic stern-faced look in this charming yet disturbing new video; meanwhile, TMBG are doing what they do best, delivering awesome music while making everyone oddly uncomfortable.

Offerman shared the video on Twitter, commenting in his patented bone-dry tone:

I Like Fun features the long-standing live lineup of band members Marty Beller on the drums, Danny Weinkauf on bass and Dan Miller on lead guitar. Mixed at Reservoir Studios, the album was co-produced by Patrick Dillett. TMBG have released 20 studio albums, starting with their self-titled album in 1986. Since then, the band has become an institution of indie/alternative rock music, and has dished out great singles like “Birdhouse in Your Soul” and “Ana Ng.”

TMBG is currently on tour promoting their most recent album release, selling out shows in cities like Dallas, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. On top of this, the band has launched a fan video contest for the album single “I Left My Body.” The winner of the contest is said to receive a $3,000 prize and will be announced through dialasong.com and the TMBG YouTube channel.
