Titus Andronicus Share Surprise Home Alone on Halloween EP

Titus Andronicus have shared a surprise Halloween-themed EP titled Home Alone on Halloween, streaming now via Merge Records. A limited run of pumpkin-orange 12-inch vinyl pressings are available as well, and will ship through the Merge store. And just in case things weren’t spooky enough, the record’s catalog number is MRG666.

The EP features three songs recorded during the sessions for the band’s latest release, A Productive Cough, including a remix of the song “Home Alone” off that record, with the new mix featuring a turn from frequent collaborator Matt “Money” Miller. “Only a Hobo” is about a different sort of horror: A cover of an oft-forgotten Bob Dylan song, the track takes a look at a life of destitution and squalor. The punk odyssey “A Letter Home” closes out the EP, clocking in at nearly 17 minutes and 1,200 words.

Frontman Patrick Stickles explained his take on the nature of spookiness in a statement. “Death is not scary,” he said. “Everyone has to die, but not everyone gets to die surrounded by love with the satisfaction of a life well-lived. What frightens me, far more than ghouls or goblins, is knowing that I may yet face the former without the comfort of the latter.”

Titus Andronicus will be embarking on their American Rock Band Tour for the remainder of the year—find a full list of dates further down.
