PREMIERE: Tyler Ramsey Releases New Single “These Ghosts”
Photo by Parker J. PfisterNorth Carolina singer/songwriter Tyler Ramsey has unveiled “These Ghosts,” the lead single from his upcoming album New Lost Ages, which is set to release on February 9 via Soundly Music. New Lost Ages will be the fifth solo album released by the former lead guitarist of Band of Horses, and “These Ghosts” weaves together a woodsy blend of indie rock and folk driven by emphatic guitar riffs and contemplative lyrics. Commanding and introspective, Ramsey finds strength in the catharsis his music allows.
“This song is for anyone who has left a bad situation behind them only to look down and realize they are still carrying it with them somehow,” Ramsey says of the single. “Letting go—even letting go of something that’s no good—can take time. The pain in your head is just the smoke from a fire that burned out a long time ago.”
The accompanying Parker J. Pfister-directed music video features Ramsey in a dazed state, haunted by manifestations of his past but finding deliverance within himself.
“Parker is an amazing photographer and we were just getting to know each other. I quickly realized that maybe for the first time I was actually having fun doing a photo shoot,” Ramsey continues. “Parker has an infectious creative spirit and his excitement became mine as we sped up the Blue Ridge Parkway to arrive at our spot before sunrise. When I knew i was going to make a video for my song “These Ghosts”, I approached Parker and away we went. His visions for the video were inspired and he was able to really represent what the song meant to me.”
