Vampire Weekend Spotted Filming Music Video with Jonah Hill and Steve Lacy

Shoppers at the iconic New York City deli Zabar’s were treated to more than what they bargained for on Wednesday when Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, The Internet’s Steve Lacy and actor/director Jonah Hill were all spotted at the Upper West Side institution, apparently filming a music video for a song from Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming album Father of the Bride.

Hill was directing the music video, which according, to one Zabar’s customer, was for a song titled “Sunflower”:

Someone else in attendance on Wednesday was also reportedly told by a crew member that the video will depict “a day on the Upper West Side.” Based on his presence at the shoot, Lacy is likely featured on the song in some capacity. Lacy is also set to feature on at least one more track from the album titled “Flower Moon,” which Vampire Weekend wrote with the Internet guitarist and previewed live at the Libbey Bowl in Ojai, Calif., last June. Hill is fresh off the release of his directorial debut mid90s, a love letter to the skate scene in 1990s Los Angeles. His first foray into music videos was with rapper Danny Brown for his song “Ain’t It Funny.”

Vampire Weekend recently shared the first two tracks from Father of the Bride, the infectious pop number “Harmony Hall,” and the more subdued and tangled “2021.” The band is also set to embark on a North American tour behind the album that kicks off in May. Father of the Bride is due out later this spring. Check out their full list of tour dates below, as well as this classic Daytrotter Session with Vampire Weekend from 2007.
