Vampire Weekend Share Two More Singles, Reveal Father of The Bride Release Date and Cover Art

As promised late last week, Vampire Weekend have shared two more singles from their forthcoming double album, Father of the Bride. Ezra Koenig and company have also revealed the release date for their much-anticipated fourth LP—May 3—along with its simplistic and colorful cover art.

“Sunflower” and “Big Blue” follow previous singles “Harmony Hall” and “2021.” The band shared their “Harmony Hall” video in late February, and if recent sightings of the band with apparent director Jonah Hill in New York City are any indication, we’ll be getting one for “Sunflower” soon, as well.

“Sunflower” was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and features The Internet’s Steve Lacy, while “Big Blue” was produced by Rechtshaid, Koenig and DJ Dahi. The former track, clocking in at just over two minutes, is a bright and surprisingly funky number on which Lacy certainly makes his presence felt, while the latter is marked by its washed-out guitars and Koenig’s chirpy vocals, which are later joined by sparing synths and choir backing.

Father of The Bride is Vampire Weekend’s first album since 2013’s Grammy-winning Modern Vampires of the City. The band have been slow to reveal the basic details of their new record—though the release date and album art boxes are finally checked, Father of the Bride’s 18-song tracklist, visible via the album preorder page, still displays only blank spaces aside from the four singles they’ve released to date.
