Photo by Ethan Miller/GettyFrom releasing a chart-topping spring album, Father of the Bride, to touring the globe, indie-rock mainstays Vampire Weekend have had a busy and productive past few months.
On Friday at the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis, Vampire Weekend covered the theme song from the iconic NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation, in the state where the show took place.
In a fan-shot video, lead singer Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson can be seen transitioning to the show theme while performing “M79,” a song off their 2008 self-titled, debut record.
Parks & Rec was set in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, and starred Koenig’s real-life partner Rashida Jones from 2009 to 2015.
Watch the indie rockers surprise their fans with the live rendition and revisit their 2007 Daytrotter Session below.
