10 Up-and-Coming Artists in 2024
Image credit: Carina DuffyWith music being easier than ever to find and access through streaming platforms and social media sites like TikTok and Instagram, new artists have the opportunity to make it big almost overnight.
But with newfound opportunities comes competition, as the number of emerging artists has increased substantially, making it difficult to find those diamonds in the rough. That being said, those diamonds are out there, waiting to be found, as this summer has unearthed a number of talented musicians.
Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band
This promising indie-rock band, hailing from Asbury Park, NJ, has self-released two albums as well as several singles. The group has toured for years and has cemented their standing as Asbury Park’s emissary of Rock and Roll, opening for artists like Ceramic Animal, Emily Wolfe, and Vintage Trouble. They often work with Dan Malsch (Avenged Sevenfold, Ghost), who produced the band’s most recent single. Combining the live show of Arctic Monkeys with the songwriting of Tom Petty, Connor Bracken and his band are not to be missed

Manatee Commune
Manatee Commune is the electronic project of Grant Eadie, a multi-instrumentalist from Spokane, Washington. A profound love of the ambient genre, an obsession with all forms of dance, and a foundation of classical training has molded Eadie’s sound into an earthy, busy, bright, and strangely familiar amalgamation of instrumentation.
His new LP, Simultaneity (his 3rd on the label Bastard Jazz) leans fully into the world of Ambient House. It’s been five years since his last LP, PDA, and he’s reemerged with a fresh take on the characteristic tone: mature, unfettered, calming, and distinctly personal. In this upcoming album, Eadie explores the collision between texture and time.
Fans of Four Tet, Jon Hopkins and Cairbou are going to find a lot to like from standout tracks like “Mosaic” and “Faulted.”

Heart of Pine
Steven Bagwell and Travis Richardson formed Heart of Pine in 2015, after one of those Athens, Georgia hangout sessions that coincidentally conjures a dangerous but debonair musical demon.
With passion and precision, they cut through the noise, building a solid fan following with members Todd Headly (drums), Jesse Fountain (keys), and Boone Hood (anything and everything else).
Southern Soul Revival captures all of Southern rock’s deep-fried guitar attack while leaning into the wounded pride behind its majestic swagger. The band’s woozy, bluesy tracks trip-sit for sincere, straightforward, effortlessly existential lyrical confessions. Standout tracks include the sing-a-long “Movin’ On”, Stapleton-esque rocker “Hello Heartache” and the closing barnburner “Phetamine & Pearls.”
Local Brand
Local Brand is an indie-alternative band formed in Florence, AL. The band seeks to “make music for humans,” giving people something to dance to and tell stories about. Their debut EP, Short Stories, was released this February, with their new single, “Party Crime,” coming later this summer. The group is set to tour in the American southeast in August and September.

Kelley Swindall
Memento Mori is an object that acts as a reminder of the inevitability of Death, as well as the ancient practice of contemplating one’s mortality in order to live a better life . Georgia-born NYC/Nashville Artist Kelley Swindall’s latest EP The Memento Mori Demos acts as just that. Created in the wake of grief following the sudden passing of her Father, The Memento Mori Demos shepherds the listener through the darker waters of Cosmic Americana with humor and pathos. By the end of the EP , Swindall has cunningly challenged us to reframe our relationship with death via the transformative agent of Memento Mori, so that we, too, might live a more inspired life.

Lisa Bouchelle

Videos utilizing the song garnered over 4.6 million views on TikTok and the official video is over 1 million views on YouTube. Lisa will be dropping her
new album, Vandals, Thieves & Lovers, in the Fall and her unique blend of Americana Pop and inspirational, uplifting songs should serve to bolster her rise to one of the top artists of the genre.

Cashavelly
A multifaceted American manifesto for a time when no one’s ready for what’s already happened…
Cashavelly calls the bluff of a societal narrative that seeks to diminish women with age, knowing they often find their full power at the moment they’re written off. Her anthemic pop music defies, provokes, and benevolently empathizes, convincing all who listen that the rebirth of a new world is not only possible, but already underway.
Her latest album, Meditation Through Gunfire, is a bold manifesto, weaving together threads of unflinching personal inquiry, societal critique, and urgent philosophical defiance. The LP releases this October, through the UNCSA program. First single, “Rewrite” sets the tone for a phenomenally deep album.
