We told you yesterday about how Washed Out’s third album due out on 6/30, Mister Mellow, is a multimedia album, “with each track accompanied by different stop-motion, collage, claymation and hand-drawn animated visuals.” Mister Mellow marks Washed Out’s first effort on eclectic LA-based label Stones Throw Records and this new label partnership has us particularly excited. Stones Throw put on one of our favorite SXSW showcases and we recently profiled fellow Stones Throw signee, Gabriel Garzón-Montano in our The Best of What’s Next Section.
The second offering from Mister Mellow is “Hard To Say Goodbye” and it sees Washed Out’s Ernest Greene getting back to his chillwave pioneering roots, but this time with an LA beat-maker style dancefloor vibe that’s been a hallmark of Stones Throw artists.
