Weezer and Pixies Are Touring Together This Summer

Alt-rock lovers have won the lottery this morning, which is to say that Weezer and Pixies are embarking on a seven-week-long North American co-headlining tour next summer. The bands have shared stages in the past, but this is their first full tour together.

Beginning on June 23, 2018, in Tampa, Fla., the tour runs throughout July, concluding with a Phoenix, Ariz., show on Aug. 12. The Wombats will provide support for the June 23-July 15 shows, with support for the back end of the tour to be announced soon.

“We’re all big Weezer fans, so we’re really looking forward to this summer,” said Pixies frontman Black Francis in a statement. “We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”

Per a press release, this tour will see Weezer playing “a mix of new songs and classics from their revered 25-year catalogue,” while Pixies fans can expect “75 minutes of Pixies playing ‘anything they want,’ one song right after the other, chosen from all points of their career, the classics and the new gems.”

Weezer released their eleventh studio album Pacific Daydream last Friday, Oct. 27, while Pixies put out their sixth record Head Carrier last September. Head Carrier was the first Pixies album to feature bassist Paz Lenchantin, after founding member Kim Deal left the band in 2013.

Tickets go on sale starting on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can find more info at weezer.com and pixiesmusic.com. Weezer fans signed up for the band’s email list can access a pre-sale beginning Monday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. local time.
