Wolf Alice Share Spooky New Video for “Sadboy”

British rock quartet Wolf Alice have shared a new video for “Sadboy,” taken from their 2017 album Visions Of A Life.

“Sadboy,” which the band recently performed on Colbert, mimics the album’s drastic juxtaposition between dark and light as it opens with minimal, spiraling instrumentation and soft vocals from frontwoman Ellie Rowsell. The song eventually makes a complete u-turn, with a more coarse and gritty sound—its dramatic breakdown features occasional warped vocals and head-banging guitars. Rowsell’s voice becomes angelic and goosebump-raising before she ends with chaotic, muffled background screams.

The band’s spooky new video features the band at a costume party, with Rowsell dressed as the devil. She eventually gets stuck in a Stranger Things or Get Out-like dimension of darkness and nothingness.

Featuring a wide range of genres with singles like “Yuk Foo” and “Don’t Delete The Kisses,” Visions Of A Life is the band’s critically acclaimed second album and it recently landed them a nomination at this year’s Brit Awards for Best British Group.

Wolf Alice also recently announced U.S. tour dates to coincide with their album, including some shows supporting Queens Of The Stone Age and headlining shows with support from The Big Pink.
