Working Men’s Club Release Heavenly Recordings Debut, “Teeth”

West Yorkshire post-punk quartet Working Men’s Club have unveiled their newest single and Heavenly Recordings debut, “Teeth.”

A robotic drum loop broken up by jagged guitars, distant synth and echoing vocals gives the song an urgent, harried energy. Lyrically preoccupied by the passing of time and subconscious despair, the track sounds like insanity pouring out of an old television set: “Running around the house, crazy / Nothing seems to go my way / Everything’s a myth / Don’t know what to believe.”

“It is a metaphor,” vocalist and guitarist Sydney Minsky-Sargeant says of “Teeth” in a statement. “It could be about going insane or what you see, what you think you feel inside, a lot of things … put through a drum machine … basically we just want to confuse the fuck out of people, in a good way!”

The band will release “Teeth” as a 7” single and a 12” EP with a number of remixes on Aug. 23. You can preorder the release here.

The band will embark on a full headlining tour throughout the U.K. after wrapping up dates in support of Bodega in August. You can check out the band’s upcoming dates down below.
