Prototype for Steel Border Wall Sawed Through in Test

During a 2004 commencement speech that has recently resurfaced thanks to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, then-future president Donald Trump told a bright-eyed batch of graduates, “If there’s a concrete wall in front of you, go through it, go over it, go around it.”

Now, a new photo acquired by NBC News shows that a trip to a local hardware store is currently the best means of doing just that.

The photo reveals that the steel slat wall President Trump deemed in his national address on Tuesday to be “absolutely critical to border security” is in a sort of critical condition after being sawed through during a test.

In an order from the Department of Homeland Security, military and Border Patrol personnel were instructed to attempt to destroy the barriers with everyday tools. Mission accomplished, as the photo shows sections of the steel carved away from the frame.

In response to the photo this morning, Trump retorted, “That’s a wall designed by previous administrations. It’s very, very hard—the wall that we are doing is very, very hard to penetrate.”

… Except, this is the wall that they are doing, and grandpa’s tool shed has the solution.

Out of the eight steel- and concrete-based prototypes that have been built along the border, the fence in question has been “Man of Steel” Trump’s first choice in national security. A report from KPBS-San Diego in September 2018 also reveals that all eight construction designs have been compromised and breached in previous testing.
