Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of New York, today released a direct and combative petition aimed straight at President Donald Trump’s insistence that there was violence “on many sides” of Saturday’s deadly vehicular attack in Charlottesville, Virginia. Rather, the petition requests that the President “clearly and unequivocally condemn and denounce the violent protest organized by the white supremacists and neo-Nazis,” which ended with a car driven by a white supremacists slamming into crowds of counter protesters, leaving one woman dead and many more in critical condition. Trump responded to the attacks as one would expect—on Twitter—where he condemned violence in general without noting the source of said violence, even as pro-Trump, alt-right demonstrators reportedly chanted “heil Trump” in support of the man.
