Watch the Potent New Joe Biden Ad Attacking Trump as “Dangerously Incompetent”

It didn’t take long for Joe Biden’s campaign to capitalize on an incident at a NATO conference this week where Justin Trudeau apparently mocked President Trump in a conversation with Emmanuel Macron, Boris Johnson, and others. Using that footage, combined with previous embarrassing moments (including the time he got laughed at during a UN speech), Biden’s team released a new and devastating ad calling Trump “incapable of world leadership.” Watch it here:

“The world is laughing at President Trump” is the memorable tagline here, and it’s betting on a couple factors. First, that treating Trump as an embarrassing object of derision will be more effective than fearmongering. Second, that voters will care what the “world” thinks, rather than rallying around the president in a tribal reaction.

The ad looks effective from where we sit, but then again, that’s preaching to the choir. One thing is beyond dispute, though: With this ad, Biden is behaving like a candidate who thinks he has the primary in the bag, and is already looking ahead to a tough general election battle.
