Sean Spicer Threatens To Alert “Authorities” After Reporter Asks Him a Question

It turns out, Sean Spicer took a ton of notes in his capacity as White House and RNC communications director, to the point that his colleagues “joked about him writing a tell-all.” That comes from Mike Allen over at Axios, who heard the factoid from Spicer’s former colleagues. He decided to reach out to Spicer asking about the notes, thinking they might be of interest to Robert Mueller’s investigative team, and this is what happened:

When we texted Spicer for comment on his note-taking practices, he replied: “Mike, please stop texting/emailing me unsolicited anymore.”

When I replied with a ”?” (I have known Spicer and his wife for more than a dozen years), he answered: “Not sure what that means. From a legal standpoint I want to be clear: Do not email or text me again. Should you do again I will report to the appropriate authorities.”

Later, Spicer repsonded to one of Allen’s emails with a similar threat, saying he would “contact the appropriate legal authorities to address your harassment.”

We already know that many Republicans, especially in Camp Trump, would like to criminalize journalism, but this is something new—threatening to go to the cops because one of them asked you a question. I hope Trump doesn’t see this, or I can envision a scenario where the entire White House press corps is immediately arrested for the crime of walking into the briefing room with intent to “harass” the president.
