Obamacare Could See Premiums Leap 20 Percent If Trump Halts Payments

For several months now, the Congressional Budget Office has been a real thorn in Trump’s side. Using actual facts and analysis to determine what the true outcome of everything Trump wants to do will be, the CBO has consistently pointed out that Trump’s plans for healthcare tend to screw people over. Today is no different.

As pointed out by The Hill, the CBO found that if Trump halts payments to insurers—as he often threatens to do—Obamacare premiums could leap up 20 percent. On top of that, the federal deficit would increase by $194 billion through 2026.

“Try to wriggle out of his responsibilities as he might, the CBO report makes clear that if President Trump refuses to make these payments, he will be responsible for American families paying more for less care,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a statement. “He’s the President and the ball is his court—American families await his action.”
