Portuguese Fans Have Been Releasing Chickens Onto The Pitch For Good Luck

SC Braga have hit a rough patch recently. Their best chance to win some silverware this season ended in tears the weekend before last with a loss to Moreirense in the Taça da Liga Final. They then suffered a tough defeat to Rio Ave in the league a few days later. The players were clearly thrown for a loop. The fans, increasingly restless and desperate, were willing to do anything to get their team back to winning ways.

Anything at all.

Including sending a chicken onto the pitch to bring some good luck. Which they did last night for their league clash with Estoril.

Apparently this isn’t the first time Braga fans have tried this. Another chicken was sent out to lift the team’s spirits ahead of an important match against Porto back in December. Sadly, that one ended in a 1-0 loss.

This time around the results were more promising— a 1-1 draw.

One of these days the chicken run should be able to produce a win. If not, maybe Braga supporters can try out another type of livestock. (Just, uh, stay away from goats. Trust me on this one.)
