No less than three Pogba brothers play professional football. Florentin Pogba is a 26-year-old defender who plays for Saint-Étienne. His twin brother Mathias has bummed around lower leagues in Spain, Italy, and even in England, and currently plies his trade with Sparta Rotterdam in The Netherlands. And his younger brother… well, maybe you’ve heard of him.
Because Fate is in constant need of amusement, two Pogba brothers were made to line up on opposite sides of the pitch as Manchester United hosted Saint-Étienne in the Europa League yesterday. The video shows Paul and Florentin embracing in the tunnel before their respective teams went at each other. All the while, the extended Pogba family sat in the hospitality suites at Old Trafford to support their kin. It’s a heartwarming story in what is otherwise a fairly cutthroat competition.
United won 3-0, because Zlatan. The second leg of their Round of 32 tie is next Thursday in France.
