Band of Outsiders Relaunching with Only Menswear
Photo by Bryan Bedder/GettyBand of Outsiders seems to be having an identity crisis. The fashion brand is currently undergoing its third relaunch for fall 2017, as WWD first reported. The brand returned in September during N.Y. Fashion Week, but will not produce a spring line. Belgian holding company CLCC SA opted not to produce the line from Royal Academy of Fine Arts alumni Matthias Weber, Niklaus Hodel and Florian Feder, who are no longer with the company.
The fall relaunch was met with mixed reviews, and had trouble living up to the legacy of the company’s founder, Scott Sternberg. An entirely new team has been brought in to lead the brand’s second comeback, which will focus only on menswear. Replacing the outgoing team will be brand director Daniel Hettmann, who started his career in Paris before founding his own company, and Angelo Von Mol, the brand’s new designer.
The new line will debut at Men’s Fashion Week in New York and Paris in 2017. Band of Outsiders has also taken to social media to build awareness for its forthcoming relaunch, using Instagram to post images that simply say, “Join the band.” Find those here.
