No matter what season or time of year, a new pair of jeans just feels so right. Whether breaking in an oversized jean jacket or testing a new cut for your everyday office button down, nothing quite says back-to-school like a fresh pair of pants or a twist on one of your favorite denim looks. Culling the racks, we rounded up our top five trends for BTS denim this fall, and we’re happy to announce, or, at the very least, reiterate, the ‘90s are not going anywhere, and heavy-duty functional denim styles are the mode du jour.

1. Slinky Boyfriend Button Down

Go full denim with a skinny jean to contrast the looser style or toss over a little black dress for date night.

Gone are the days of pin straight skinny jeans. A relaxed fit and vintage wash, wearable comfortable looks are taking center stage this season. With a looser fit and straight leg line seam, cuff at the bottom or try a pair perfectly broken in, these jeans are the chameleons of the denim world and just basic enough to stand up to a host of dynamite, heavy duty accessories like layered cuffs, rings and chokers. The lighter wash hearkens back to the early ‘90s, and we are not mad about that.

5. Blue Minis

Last but not least, the denim minidress is one of the easiest ways to put together a look and stick with it all season long. Simple and chic in its construction, find softer cotton denim, layer with tights, ankle boots and a leather tote for the collegiate coed look and BTS dressing is complete with just a snap of a button. Minidresses are the perfect seasonal transition staple as they can be layered for cooler mornings or left as is when those late summer heat waves pass through. Just innocent enough, pair with rich browns and blacks to edge out the style for city tromping.
